The implementation tool for the eGovernment Strategy Switzerland is the strategic plan. It covers eight strategic projects and four strategic services.
The «Framework agreement under public law on e-government cooperation in Switzerland» governs the organisation and approach of the Confederation, the cantons and the communes when implementing the eGovernment Strategy Switzerland.

At the end of 2015, the Confederation, the cantons and the communes approved the eGovernment Strategy Switzerland. The eGovernment Strategy Switzerland is a sub-strategy of the Federal Council's strategy for an information society in Switzerland.

Upon conclusion of the eGovernment Switzerland 2008 – 2015 programme, the Programme Office worked on a publication in collaboration with the project leader organisations. This publication provides an overview of the milestones achieved.

On 24 January 2007, the Federal Council adopted a national eGovernment strategy. It was developed in close cooperation with representatives of the cantons and the municipalities, under the direction of the FSUIT. The strategy constitutes the basis for the Confederation, the cantons, and the municipalities to orient their efforts toward common goals.
