The Swiss portal ch.ch is the national gateway to Switzerland. It is Switzerland’s electronic business card and the main point of access to online information from the federal government, the cantons and local authorities |
Cantons |
|
|---|---|
| Conference of the Cantonal Governments (CCG) |
After the popular rejection of the European Economic Area in 1992, the cantonal governments looked for new ways to improve intercantonal cooperation (horizontal federalism) and cooperation with the Confederation (vertical federalism). This led to the formation of the Conference of the Cantonal Governments on 8 October 1993. The purpose of the CCG is to promote cooperation among cantons within their areas of competence and to ensure the necessary coordination and information of the cantons with respect to federal matters that are relevant to the cantons. |
| Conference of Government Chancellors |
The Conference of Government Chancellors, which is composed of the heads of the chancelleries of the Confederation, the cantons, and the Principality of Liechtenstein, performs foundational work that helps its members fulfil their functions in an increasingly complex environment. |
Cities / municipalities |
|
|---|---|
| Swiss Conference of City and Municipal Clerks (SKSG/CSSM) |
The purpose of the Conference is to promote and strengthen the professional and personal relationships among the city and municipal clerks, to host professional events, and to take part in the various fundamental consultation procedures of the Swiss Confederation. |
| Association of Cities |
The Association of Cities is a modern service and interest association representing the core cities, the larger agglomeration municipalities, and the regional centres. Urban Switzerland now encompasses more than two thirds of the Swiss population. |
| Association of Municipalities |
The Swiss Association of Municipalities is the umbrella organisation for municipalities throughout Switzerland. It was founded in 1953 as a politically and denominationally neutral association. Currently, more than 70% of all municipalities and cities are members of the Swiss Association of Municipalities. The Association is led by a 15-member Executive Board, composed of officials from all parts of the country and all language regions. The main goal of the Association of Municipalities is to preserve and strengthen municipal autonomy and self-government. The Association represents the common interests of the Swiss municipalities as the third federal power within the federal state. In doing so, it respects the differing characteristics of the various municipalities. |
